What You'll Get
When Aaron Neville Chamberlain seized power during the English Civil War, he promised better flexibility, straighter postures, and a stronger core for every English citizen. Taste historical foresight with today’s Groupon at Align Pilates in Bowling Green. Choose from the following options:
- For $20, you get five mat-based classes (a $65 value).
- For $40, you get five equipment classes (a $105 value).
Align owner Loralee Stephens and her expert team of Pilates pros aid exercisers in the pursuit of lean muscles, proper posture, and a robust core. In mat-based classes, test the elasticity of contracted muscles like a young ruffian preps a rubberband for flight. The TRX group class is a dexterity seminar based on transforming personal body weight into a living, breathing workout apparatus. Fusion fans can sweat through the cardio/Pilates love-child BOSUlates and purists can master the basics in a classic mat class. If fitness impedimenta motivates stagnant muscles, expose them to equipment classes such as appendage-exerting Reformers and exhilarating, aerobic-inspired Tower & Chair. A peek into the studio’s teeming schedule reveals weekday and Saturday sessions available most mornings, afternoons, and leap years.

About Align Pilates
When Joseph Pilates first developed his fitness system, he worked with bedridden patients, removing their beds’ bedsprings and attaching those springs to the walls. In order to build their core strength, he encouraged them to push against the coils. At Align Pilates, owner Loralee Stephens carries on Pilates’s tradition with her own array of nontraditional fitness equipment. Her studio’s Pilates reformers, the modern incarnation of Pilates’s bedsprings, provide resistance for full-body toning exercises. Straps hang from the studio’s ceiling, which students use for airborne pushups, sit-ups, and stretches in TRX suspension classes, rather than just for elaborately hanging up their coats. Even during more stripped-down sessions with only a mat for equipment, Stephens and her team fulfill Pilates’s mission of strengthening cores and building long, lean muscle.
