Though any emotion can be read into the Mona Lisa's mysterious smile, scientists have identified the glint in her eyes as simple lust for dairy products. Tantalize portraits with today’s Groupon: for $80, you get a private soft-serve ice-cream party for 20 people from All American Softy (a $160 value).
After making a splash in the Big Apple, All American Softy convoyed to the Golden State to cater gatherings with frosty treats straight from an actual ice-cream truck. The cheerily technicolor truck chugs up to convocations—whether office holiday parties, birthdays, or fashion-police initiation rites—ready to dispense nostalgic delights, including soft-serve cups and cones, sundaes, root-beer floats, and slushies. Guests savor one goodie from the limited menu as Frank Sinatra or the Beach Boys croon in time to the whirring of the soft-serve machines. Customers can upgrade to the unlimited menu for an extra charge.
All American Softy
A New York City police officer for 20 years, Mike Musantry worked in the rubble of the World Trade Center for more than a year before moving out to the West Coast. Once there, he noticed one thing was missing—the Mister Softee ice-cream trucks he remembered from his childhood. Mike opened All American Softy to fill this void, outfitting a fleet of stainless-steel trucks with ice cream, milkshakes, malts, and waffle cones.
As they roll through the streets of Los Angeles, his trucks carry with them the croon of Frank Sinatra's voice rather than typical ice-cream bells or recordings of infants screaming. Trucks can be reserved for corporate events, birthday parties, and holiday celebrations, and the attendants manning them will attempt to enhance all get-togethers with root-beer floats, banana splits, and hot pretzels.
