Former Marine Tony Crockett discovered jujitsu in 1980 while stationed in an Okinawan village. On his website, he recalls that the village instructor didn't speak English and cared more about technique than rank. That initial lesson made a strong impression on Crockett. He has since received a black belt in Danzan-Ryu jujitsu from the American Judo and Jujitsu Federation and started Allen Judo & Jujitsu, where he teaches Danzan-Ryu jujitsu to adults. Typical techniques taught during the classes, which take place at The Jym, include throws, chokes, strikes, and really firm handshakes.
