Master Andrew Fanelli, who has been a tae kwon do trainer for 29 years, and his team of 12 black-belted staff instructors hew hardy physiques and disciplined minds with Korea's national martial art. A full schedule of 45-minute classes ushers students as young as 3.5 into a tradition of respect, confidence, and spectacular kicks used to valiantly wipe the noses of an opponent. In the newly remodeled 4,200-square-foot dojo, up to 15 students gather in age-appropriate groups to absorb lessons from a pair of duel doyens. Groups of eight students per teacher allow for personal attention as belt-donning students bound through a curriculum of special stances, elbow smashes, and combat sequences. Scheduled at the client's convenience, private lessons sharpen coordination and hone a sense of teamwork between hands and feet, and classes in thai boxing, self-defense, board breaking, and weaponry skills expand each combatant's repertoire.
