Q:

I have nail fungus on 3 fingers. Every time I lose a nail it does not grow back. My manual dexterity skills have deteriorated and have problems and pain in everything I do with my fingers. Can I regrow the nails normal after these treatments and do you accept Tricare military insurance. I may have a disability claim for this condition. Please respond. Thank-you. Thomas

thomas p.  asked on  Dec 3, 2012

A:

Tom, Could I have you call the office and ask for Carson. I would like to ask you a few more questions about your nails. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept Tricare. Carson

Q:

Sounds like a bunch of "Mumbo Jumbo" What assurance is provided to know this procedure will work?? What if it returns a couple months later?? I have no way of knowing the severity of the fungal infection so how can I pay only to be surprised when seeing Dr.??

Dennis N.  asked on  Dec 3, 2012

A:

Thank you for asking about our Mumbo Jumbo nail procedure. On the link below, please follow the additional links to news articles. By searching Google you can find numerous articles and research. Europe has utilized laser for fungal treatments, infections, skin issues, and tissue repair for years with great success. Please note that you will see effective rates between 60-80% for toenail fungal treatments. In the article it also emphasizes that long term solutions include changing your socks, shoes, enhancing hygiene practices, over the counter treatments, and physician prescribed treatments. As you mentioned the level of severity is difficult to diagnose with an email. As a general guideline, slight discoloration could be considered mild. More discoloration, nail damage, and more affected toes make it more of a significant infection. As you know, nails grow from the nail bed and the cells die as they grow out. Fungus can live in the bed, under the nail, or on top. Laser treatments kill the active fungus. The number of treatments often depends on the severity of the infection, how deep it is, if the nail bed is affected, or is it only the outside of the nail. Hope this helps as a starting point for your research. http://www.robertsonfamilychiro.com/laser-toenail-fungus-treatments-arizona-phoenix.htm If you have anymore questions, please feel free to call me at the office (480) 812-1800. Q:

How long does it take for the fungus to go away after the treatment? I have no pain from it but I hate the look it has given my feet.

Delight B.  asked on  Dec 3, 2012

A:

Delight, As you know, nails grow from the nail bed and the cells die as they grow out. Fungus can live in the bed, under the nail, or on top. Laser treatments kill the active fungus. The number of treatments often depends on the severity of the infection, how deep it is, if the nail bed is affected, or is it only the outside of the nail. It will take the new nails 4-6 weeks of growing for you to notice an increase in nail clarity. 1 visit may work on a mild infection. Q:

How can this procedure be done at such a discount? Would I be getting the same treatment as if I were paying the regular price? Also, what outcome can I expect after one treatment verses two? I have several toes that need treatment, but i would say they are not extreme.

Gloria R.  asked on  Dec 3, 2012

A:

As a Groupon user, you have seen Groupon’s ability to get you great deals for the same services. This is another example of the service Groupon provides to you. You will be getting the same service. As the article mentions, we prefer the 3 treatment option to further enhance the treatment effectiveness combined with additional antifungal treatments. 1 visit may work on a mild infection. Q:

I have only one infected toenail. I do not need the treatment of all of mine toenails. How would your offer apply then?

Irene P.  asked on  Dec 2, 2012

A:

The Groupon is only valid as listed and cannot be substituted or altered in anyway. Sorry for the confusion.

Annette B.  from  Self  replied on  Dec 2, 2012

A:

Irene, We will still treat all the toenails because you may have fungal cells in other toes. The infection may have spread and you could be unable to see it. Treating the additional toes may help decrease the risk of reoccurrence. http://www.robertsonfamilychiro.com/laser-toenail-fungus-treatments-arizona-phoenix.htm If you have anyother questions please feel free to contact me at the office. Q:

Does the $199 cover both the evaluation with the doctor and the procedure? What, if any, other fees can I expect. Is the one time treatment enough for just two infected toes? Does the necessity of repeat procedures depend upon the severity of the fungal infection, or some other factor? thanks, Jess

Jess L.  asked on  Dec 2, 2012

A:

The Groupon covers the evaluation and the treatment. Groupons do not cover tax or gratuity. Results and experiences may vary. Please contact the professionals at Alpha Chiropractic to discuss treatment options best for you.
