Winner of the Sarasota County EDC Innovation Award, Ambo Foods’ Omega Cookies were created by a pair of doctors as a means for people to take heart-healthy omega-3 fish oil without consuming fish-oil capsules. The Omega Cookie is a gluten-free confection with less sugar than an apple, no fishy taste or smell, and seven capsules worth of omega-3, plus large portions of fiber, calcium, and vitamin D. With this deal, you’ll get two variety boxes, each containing 15 cookies in flavors such as cranberry, chocolate chip, ginger raisin, and tropical. Health-strivers can give their bodies a boost by regularly taking omega-3 fish oil, which is thought to improve heart function, reduce joint inflammation, and boost metabolism.
The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County honored Ambo Foods with the Innovation Award and induction to its Hall of Fame. The Herald-Tribune featured a story on Ambo Foods and the Omega Cookie.
- Martinsen and Chalmers opened their test kitchen and hired personal chef Ken Hulme to help them develop the perfect recipe. After hundreds of attempts during 18 months, the couple figured out how to incorporate the oil, without affecting its taste or quality, into an oatmeal cookie with the added benefit of lots of fiber. – Toni Whitt, Herald-Tribune
