A Chat with America’s Best Defense Colchester
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
One of the longest run jujitsu programs in Connecticut with multiple brown-belt instructors under the one of the only master belts in New England, Marcio Stambowsky. This is a safe, fun environment for learning and personal growth. We offer day and night classes.
Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged?
Train for fitness: Brazilian jujitsu works muscles that don’t get used in conventional workouts, while at the same time providing an intense cardio experience. Burn calories while you learn!
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Josh Hesser, a BJJ student for more than 10 years and a competitor, has students from all over the map: restaurant owners, cops, amateur MMA fighters, comic-book artists, security guards, dog groomers, casino workers. Everyone is welcome to train.
What do you love most about your job?
Size and strength matter, but not as much as position and technique. Brazilian jujitsu bridges the gap and evens the playing field.
