It's a monster mash double feature as American Cinematheque presents the 1939 classic Universal feature Son of Frankenstein and the Mel Brooks classic Young Frankenstein, which was inspired by the earlier film. The older movie was the third in the franchise, and sees the doctor's grown-up son returning to the family estate, where he finds the dormant monster (Boris Karloff) being tended to by the vengeful Ygor (Bela Lugosi). Brooks' wacky homage stars Gene Wilder as the grandson of the famed scientist, trying to make his own monster come to life while surrounded by a host of crazy (and memorable) supporting characters.
