Choose Between Two Options
- $24 for a beginning fly-casting and introduction class (a $49.88 value)
- $44 for the above option, and an on-the-water clinic for beginning anglers (an $89.76 total value)
In the beginning fly-casting and introduction class, students receive one-on-instruction in the proper mechanics of fly-casting. They also learn additional fundamentals, such as rigging, knot tying, and basic entomology to guide fly selection. Students can then apply and expand on what they’ve learned during on-the-water clinic for beginning anglers, where instructors teach additional techniques such as dry flying and nymphing on the American River.
The beginning fly-casting and introduction class is typically scheduled Saturdays from 7:45 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the on-the-water clinic is typically scheduled Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Both sessions keep enrollment limited so students receive ample attention, and both include all necessary equipment, such as waders and boots. For the clinic, anglers must possess a California fishing license and a steelhead card. Both options come with $19.88 off any purchase of $100 or more at American Fly Fishing Co.’s store, as well as half off a ticket to International Sportsmen’s Exposition on January 10–13.
American Fly Fishing Co.
Steelhead on the lower Feather River. Peacock bass on the Amazon River. Tarpon on Mexican flats. The guides of American Fly Fishing Co. have taken anglers in search of these fish on fly-fishing adventures around the world. When not wading through forested streams and rivers, they staff American Fly Fishing’s shop, advising guests on fly tackle, fly-tying equipment, and other gear from brands such as Korkers, Sage, and Abel Reels. They also impart their expertise through classes and clinics, such as private fly-casting lessons. In addition to serving anglers, American Fly Fishing’s team supports a number of conservation programs, and encourages catch-photograph-exchange-emails-and-release practices to help sustain the American River and other nearby waters.
