Aside from climbing out of rattlesnake-infested quicksand or posing for rattlesnake-infested watercolor portraits, few activities combine the focus and physicality seen in kenpo karate training. Shape up sans snakes with today’s Groupon: for $29, you get four weeks of kenpo karate classes (a $100 value) and one student uniform (a $40 value) at the American Institute of Kenpo (a $140 total value).
The American Institute of Kenpo offers an array of kenpo karate classes to students of all ages and experience levels. American kenpo is a martial art that focuses on self-defense and fitness, and helps build coordination, strength, and flexibility for undercover missions on the pretzel black market. The American Institute of Kenpo schools students from ages 4 to 6 (youth program), 7 to 14 (junior program), and 15 and up (adult program), with classes meeting for one hour twice a week. New students in all programs are introduced to the five ranges of combat, and students in the junior and adult programs participate in monitored sparring time. Additionally, every student is given all of the materials needed to build a fortified foundation for their kenpo practice. With multiple sessions to choose from on the class schedule, patrons can pencil courses into their jam-packed calendars brimming with work duties, family obligations, and contemplative lectures on the art of turtle waxing.
School of American Kenpo
At School of American Kenpo, third-degree black belt Ron Hickey calls on 15 years of martial-arts training to instill each student with not only strength and technique, but also character, confidence, and inner peace in every class he leads. Though the roots of traditional American Kenpo run deep in the studio, Hickey encourages his students to blaze their own trails in their development in the martial art. From four-year-old fighters just starting out to older athletes with hopes of achieving a black belt, School of American Kenpo seeks to help every student achieve their personal, fitness, and self-defense goals.
