Fires in the home are the most common disaster American families face, with the American Red Cross and its chapters nationwide responding to approximately 170 fires each day. During cold weather months, weekends, and holidays, incidents of house fires, and demand for the American Red Cross' help, increase.
Upon arriving at the scene of a fire, the non-profit organization assesses the damage, offers emotional support, and ensures basic needs are met—these services are provided free of charge. Though the American Red Cross relies on a large army of volunteers, resources are needed to train and equip these volunteers with the tools they need to respond to local disasters.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago respond to at least one local family impacted by a home fire on Christmas Day. If at least 40 people donate, then a local family will receive the assistance and compassion of a trained Red Cross volunteer, in addition to blankets, a safe place to sleep, warm clothing, toiletries, infant supplies, and medication replacement. If at least $5,000 is raised, then this G-Team campaign will provide disaster response services to all families impacted on Christmas Day.
G-Team donors will be able to follow the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago on twitter at @chicagoredcross or on Facebook for real time updates on the home fires and other disasters they respond to.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
