American Robotics Academy

American Robotics Academy simultaneously strengthens imaginations, problem solving abilities, and technical skills. During after-school programs, summer camps, and other special events, children in first grade and up learn to conceptualize, construct, and operate small, remote-controlled robots. Teamwork is essential as small groups use Lego Technic pieces to plan and build their robots. In addition to experimenting with gears, pulleys, axels, motors, microcomputers, and pneumatic components, students must collaborate when developing the optimal designs for completing specific, simple tasks.

The academy offers separate programs to accommodate students of varying ages and skill levels. However, every class and camp concludes with a friendly competition to test groups' designs. Finished creations may be required to navigate obstacle courses, grab and transport objects, play tug of war, or catapult ping pong balls. Each interactive, hands-on experience imparts a greater understanding of robotics technology while developing children's passion for creation and discovery.
