A season pass to Ames on the Half Shell nets music-lovers summer-long access to the ninth season of Friday evening concerts in Bandshell Park, a grassy esplanade with plenty of room to bob, tap, and contra dance with friends and family. The charity-funding series kicks off on June 3 with Dave Zollo and opening band Trouble No More performing from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Weekly concerts will spotlight different regional bands—including Dazy Head Mazy, Vivace, and Saucy Jack—every Friday night until the final show on July 22, which will feature Bonne Finken and Vinyl bombarding aural passageways with chunky rhythms, rich harmonies, and scholarly lectures about Euclidean geometry. Food offerings fill internal food satchels with grub from local vendors, and cold beer, soda, and water ($3 for beer; $1 for water or soda) cool throats dry from singing or reciting Tolstoy's entire catalog in hopes of impressing neighboring concert-goers. A parent, guardian, or time-traveling astronaut must accompany those under the age of 21.
