Walking backward while talking is useful for leading a tour, demonstrating a moonwalk, or retreating from a room full of ominously staring toddlers. See the reverse saunter put to good use with today's Groupon: for $62, you get one space in the class The Art of Seeing, a walking photo tour of Old Town Scottsdale from the Ancient Light Gallery (a $125 value). This Groupon expires May 15, 2011.
Under the visual guidance of award-winning photographer and Ancient Light Gallery owner Cheyenne L Rouse, novice and seasoned photographers glean clearer understandings of how to turn historic scene scapes and buildings into images of elevated art. Bring your point-and-shoot camera, 35 MM gem, or cherry red ViewMaster to The Art of Seeing and meet with Rouse to discuss your photographic goals during the ensuing one-hour walking tour. From there, Rouse leads a group of two to 10 students down the historic pathways of Old Town, focusing on how to work with composition, angles, and natural light when night coyotes aren’t dangerously stalking your socks.
Rouse believes that the beauty of place is entrenched in simple details. During each walk, she will share her secrets on shooting gallery-worthy images ready-made for pixilated ardor. A basic understanding of your camera's features is required. Call ahead to schedule your place in the tour, which commences every Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at 2 p.m. at the gallery.
This Groupon also gets you an additional 20% off the class Turn Your Photographs into Fine Art ($175 regular price) if purchased on the same day as the walking tour.
