Like in-laws and nude mountaineering, tapas are designed for enjoyment in small doses. Lavish in limits with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of tapas and drinks at Andres Wine and Tapas Bar. Overlooking Ventura Harbor, Andres offers delectable tapas and fine wines in a warm and intimate setting. Tapas fare lets eaters do more with less by offering smaller plates designed to be passed across the table to good friends or closely guarded against imaginary enemies. The sloppy José, a dish of delicately seasoned beef and spicy chorizo modeled on Andres' family recipe ($3), and the cheesy artichokes, in which fresh parmesan piggybacks on top of marinated artichoke hearts, love-bite mouths with little nibbles of affection. Andres features dozens of wines served by the glass and an in-house sommelier to help diners pair tastes with their buds. Sparkling wines and beers are also available, and on Sunday afternoons live jazz keeps patrons swinging, grooving, or pontificating about the pentatonic scale.
Reviews
Eight Yelpers give Andres Wine and Tapas Bar a four-star average:
- The tapas were made to order and they were absolutely delicious. They were even brought out by the chef! And the owner is very affable. And the crowd is very mellow, which is what I like. – Vira P.
- I found this place to be not only reasonable, but warm and lovely. The board games were fun and the handmade bar is beautiful. A lovely experience all around. – Sheryl S.
