Q:

I had my hair chemically straightened about a year and a half ago. Can I use the Brazilian treatment to straighten my roots? Will it further damage my already straightened hair?

Danielle S.  asked on  Jan 17, 2012

A:

The treatment will not damage your hair, however it won't straighten the roots. I recommend two steps: Japanese straightening for a touch-up to straighten your roots and then Brazilian keratin treatment for healthier hair.

Q:

I recently purchased a BKT from a salon in Pasadena, but the owner of the salon used a relaxer on my hair instead. I did not know this until after when I called Redken to inquire about the specific product. My hair had been highlighted, and now it looks like straw. Will a REAL BKT help to repair my hair? There is some breakage, but it's not terrible. The product used was Redken Shape Control.

Leigh T.  asked on  Jan 17, 2012

A:

Yes, the BKT will help repair your hair. I would recommend that you get the treatment done.

Q:

does it work with a black women's hair

jean-philippe m.  asked on  Jan 15, 2012

A:

It won't be completely straight. If you combine Brazilian keratin treatment along with Japanese straightening you will get completely straight hair. For your hair, I'd rather recommend Japanese straightening only. I can give you a good deal for $280.

Q:

Is the treatment formaldehyde free?

Shanna E.  asked on  Jan 15, 2012

A:

We use the brand called B24. Most Brazilian keratin treatments contain little amounts of formaldehyde. Depending on the company, the containing amount differs. For my salon, I picked out a brand with the lowest amount of formaldehyde. We also have many fans placed at our salon for safety precautions.
