What You'll Get
Yoga strengthens the body and the mind, like a Mensa-exclusive gym where workouts alternate between dumbbell reps and Gaussian bell-curve distributions. Use today’s Groupon for more enjoyable exercise: for $20, you get a four-class yoga session at Anniston Yoga Center (a $45 value).
Like a grand marshall of malleability, Mariya Bullock—the founder of Anniston Yoga Center—leads inner peace-seekers of all levels on a mind-opening, body-bending parade of postures and techniques founded in the Kripalu tradition with influence from Ashtanga and Iyengar. Each class begins with a brief breathing warm-up and meditation session, prepping pupils to accept pliability into their appendages and torsos and to gain spiritual enlightenment, tension release, and increased self-awareness.
This Groupon includes one class a week for four weeks. Choose from Thursday evening’s gentle yoga class, which lets easy-going yogis get their stretch on; the yoga for all levels class on Saturdays at 11 a.m., or the 9 a.m. Saturday Vinyasa session, which gives more intense practitioners an outlet to coordinate oxygen intake and pretzel imitations. Each class lasts about 75 minutes, and mats will be provided. Anniston Yoga Center is housed within the historical Kilby House on Woodstock Avenue, an inspiring setting for ascending to yoga’s ever-elusive superconsciousness.
