About Antara Peruvian Cuisine
Antara Peruvian Cuisine's owner Pedro Laredo, his brother, chef Edwin, and chef Doris Mendes want to introduce Medfield's denizens to the type of food found only in their native country. So they cook Peruvian dishes using family recipes and ingredients shipped from Peru. That dedication to authenticity earned the attention of the Boston Globe, which profiled Antara in 2014.
The Globe praised Antara's ceviche, raw fish that gets denatured with acidic fruit juice, proclaiming that Antara's tilapia was "'cooked' perfectly in the eminently drinkable marinade, called leche de tigre, or tiger’s milk." Other traditional dishes include lamb cooked with Inca beer and lomo saltado, Lima-style lean beef with garlic, tomatoes, cilantro, and red onions. The dishes pair with chicha morada, Peru's sweet purple corn-juice drink.
