During this two-hour class, students learn the ins and outs of crafting homemade pizza under the tutelage of professional pizza chefs. Students learn to knead and stretch a thin crust, then adorn it with sauce, cheese, and toppings in the proper ratios. After baking all samples in the wood-burning brick oven, students undergo the real test by sampling their creations, with some extra credit awarded to noteworthy pies.
AOA Bar and Grill
Mostly locally sourced ingredients lend subtle flavors to AOA Bar and Grill's menu of epicurean pub fare overseen by executive chef Nadov Cohen. In the kitchen, his staff tops burgers with ingredients such as Vermont white cheddar, avocado, and gooey gruyere cheese, or crafts traditional English-pub items such as fish 'n' chips and shepherd's pie. Hickory-smoked baby back ribs and other barbecue feasts emerge from a Texas-style smoker as a wood-burning brick pizza oven crisps thin crusts nearby. Borrowing a page from old brewpubs in Northern Europe, AOA also outfits its 40-foot caesarstone bar with 25 craft beers and more than 50 bottled brews.
The expansive dining room ignites crowds with 20 flat-screen TVs that frequently broadcast professional bouts, college sports, and a Queen of England speech blooper reel. Sports fans' cheers soar up toward a 20-foot-high ceiling rustically outfitted in reclaimed barn wood. AOA also hosts special weekly events for patrons, private events for special occasions, and pizza classes for aspiring dough designers.
