Acupuncture needles optimize energy flow by stimulating the nerves and popping blockages caused by balloon animals. Clear your neural superhighways with this Groupon.
Choose Between Two Options
- $27 for two acupuncture treatments (a $60 value)
- $32 for one Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement, Sheng Zhen Gong, Dancing from the Deep Within, or Introduction to Energy Psychology class (a $75 value). Classes begin on March 7 and last until April 4 or April 11, depending on class chosen.
During 60- to 90-minute acupuncture sessions, student interns needle patients under the sharp eye of the licensed acupuncturists on staff. Save time at check-in by printing out and completing new-patient paperwork before the appointment.
Designed to welcome students of all levels, Sheng Zhen Gong classes nurture awareness and balance with a combination of gentle movement, breathing exercises, and stillness. During Introduction to Energy Psychology, students work to overcome limiting beliefs, minor phobias, and other psychological challenges by self-administering mild acupressure treatments with their fingertips. In Dancing from the Deep Within, music, movement, and breath are used to create an inner awareness of the body and evoke a state of deep relaxation. Finally, Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes lead students into a recognition of how they organize, sequence, and produce movement, identifying any habits or rigidities that can be altered to improve efficiency.
AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine
"Our mission is to transform lives and communities through graduate education in Oriental medicine," school president William R. Morris tells AOMA students. These budding practitioners are all working toward a master's degree in acupuncture and Oriental medicine, studying needle techniques, herbal and mind-body medicine, and Eastern bodywork modalities at one of the largest institutions of its kind in Austin. In 2009, the clinics had more than 20,000 appointments to treat patient ailments ranging from allergies and stress to digestive woes and ice-cream headaches.
