Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

does this include removal of old tint that is on the windows or would that be an extra charge?

Shannon B.  asked on  Sep 14, 2012

A:

Hello - Shannon the voucher does not cover the cost of film removal. If your vehicle needs old failed film removed the fee is based on the number of windows for example a typical four door sedan would cost $100. Best regards Ron R. Apex Tint/Owner

Q:

Does it make a difference if the vehicle has privacy glass? I bought my car two years ago and I'm not entirely sure if it's privacy glass or a light window tint.

Brian N.  asked on  Sep 14, 2012

A:

Hello Brian - Many new vehicles now come standard with manufactures colored glass (privacy glass) in the rear windows of the vehicle. At Apex Tint, we receive many calls for pricing to tint the front two side windows of their new vehicle with the owner stating they already have tint on the rear windows of the vehicle. In reality, most new vehicles have colored glass or “privacy glass” in the rear windows of the vehicle, not actual window film (tint). So what’s the difference? Quite a bit actually! Privacy glass was introduced to do just as its name suggests, protect the privacy of the vehicle owner by allowing the occupant to easily look out, but deter others from looking in. It is simply dark colored glass. What privacy glass does not do is provide occupants with good heat protection. A quality window film is recommended for even those windows with privacy glass. Window tint is applied aftermarket and if applied to all sides and rear of the vehicle vs. the front side windows, occupants can maximize their heat protection and UV ray protection (Llumar window film blocks 99% of harmful UV rays). Q:

I need tint on driver's and passenger's front windows. Need old tint/film removed - $20/window, right? Then your $49 replacement tint for those 2 windows, correct? How long does it take? Can I make an appt and wait for the car? Is there a tint that is sprayed on instead of a film that is adhered to window?

Pat A.  asked on  Sep 17, 2012

A:

Hello Pat - Our $49 offer would cover your two front windows and there would be a $40 removal fee. It takes about an hour total time. Installations are by appt only you can either drop your car off for the day or you can wait in our lobby area while your film is getting installed. All our tint material comes in the form of film media I am unaware of any spray on produces. Best regards, Ron R.

Q:

Ron, would you please help me understand what the difference is between standard tint, acryllic tint, and metallic tint. Do you carry furmula 1- pinnacle or specialty series? How do this two films differ from each other and the other standards aformentioned? I have pinnacle on one of my cars. I went to get a high end Llumar, for a second car- thinking I was getting the same stuff- but I can feel a physical difference on my arms from the suns rays. I can certainly feel more heat with the Llumar- or second tint. From what I can gather, Llumar owns Form 1. So what im I missing and what are the differences? Thanks!

DC M.  asked on  Sep 15, 2012

A:

Hello - DC M. Hope this answers your questions also please check out our website at www.apex-tint.com. PERFORMANCE VALUES of AUTOMOTIVE WINDOW FILM: Heat reduction (solar protection) is most commonly the primary goal automotive tint consumers are striving to accomplish. The sun’s rays can cause a car’s interior to become unbearably hot. Installing a high performance window film can reduce your car’s interior surface temperatures by as much as 16°C (29°F)… creating a more comfortable ride, lessening the burden on the air conditioning system, and saving fuel. Ultraviolet (UV) rays are also a concern to automotive tint consumers. UV rays can cause damage to a vehicle’s interior — and to human skin. Installing a high performance window forms a protective barrier that blocks up to 99.9% of UV rays, which keeps your cars’ interior looking newer, longer, and shields you and your passengers from UV exposure that can contribute to skin cancer. Glare reduction is another problem for automobile windows. Glare can be distracting to any driver. Installing a high performance window film can reduce glare by as much as 94%. Vehicle appearance is always a consideration when choosing window film. But you don’t have to sacrifice style and appearance to protect yourself and your investment. I also want to point out that although "standard" film can offer protection from IR and UV rays it has its limitations because it is made of dyes only. To increase protection you need to install a high performance film that has added materials such as metal or ceramic. We do not carry the formula one series of film but we do offer other high performance films. Best regards, Ron R.
