Hello Brian - Many new vehicles now come standard with manufactures colored glass (privacy glass) in the rear windows of the vehicle. At Apex Tint, we receive many calls for pricing to tint the front two side windows of their new vehicle with the owner stating they already have tint on the rear windows of the vehicle. In reality, most new vehicles have colored glass or “privacy glass” in the rear windows of the vehicle, not actual window film (tint). So what’s the difference? Quite a bit actually!
Privacy glass was introduced to do just as its name suggests, protect the privacy of the vehicle owner by allowing the occupant to easily look out, but deter others from looking in. It is simply dark colored glass. What privacy glass does not do is provide occupants with good heat protection. A quality window film is recommended for even those windows with privacy glass. Window tint is applied aftermarket and if applied to all sides and rear of the vehicle vs. the front side windows, occupants can maximize their heat protection and UV ray protection (Llumar window film blocks 99% of harmful UV rays). Best regards Ron R. Apex Tint/Owner
