For $150, today’s side deal gets youngsters a weeklong Broadway summer camp at Applause For Kids in North Buckhead (a $375 value). This Groupon is not valid for the two-week Wild Child or Godspell camps.
At Applause For Kids, children can cultivate self-confidence and self-awareness through a supportive program that helps them develop singing, dancing, acting, and even costume-creating skills. A talented group of instructors prepares campers for performing in a Broadway-style show over the course of one week, ending with an impressive performance. Several camps are available from June to August, including Willy Wonka and Wonderful Wizards, the jazz- and tap-dance-infused Puttin’ on the Ritz, and the Magical World of Broadway, which showcases characters from Mary Poppins, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid. To ensure optimum skill development, children are divided into groups by age. Children will attend camp between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, while Friday camps start at 10 a.m., with a week-ending showcase performance.
Applause For Kids was named the Best Artsy Class for Big Kids in Nickelodeon Parents Connect 2008 Parents' Picks, and also won the Buckhead Business of the Year award in 2005. Past Applause students and families give great testimonials on the Applause For Kids website:
- I cannot speak highly enough about Applause... For Kids and what it has done for my daughter Isabella. Isabella is 7 years old and has a lot of creative energy. Applause has helped her channel that energy in a positive way and has boosted her self-esteem. – Melissa L., Applause For Kids
- We took our daughter to cheerleading camp and people were turning around and askin [sic], "Where did she get all this talent?" We answered, "At Applause for Kids." She shined above all the others and we know it is because of he self-esteem she got from Applause. – Jay and Stephanie F., Applause For Kids
- I love the family atmosphere of the studio. It's obvious how much the teachers love what they are doing and most of all the children. My kids are constantly asking if they have acting today. – Louanne B., Applause For Kids
