Aquatic Adventures of Michigan - Brighton: Scuba-Diving Classes at Aquatic Adventures of Michigan. Choose from Three Options.

The only things separating humans from fish are underwater breathing capabilities and dental-insurance coverage. Help close the gap between human and halibut with today's Groupon to Aquatic Adventures of Michigan. Choose between the following options:

  • For $10, you get a three-hour Discover Scuba class (a $25 value).
  • For $150, you get a beginner diver certification course (a $395 value).
  • For $425, you get a beginner diver certification course with all necessary equipment included (a $720 value).

Located in Brighton, about a 30-minute drive from Ann Arbor, Aquatic Adventures of Michigan gives terrestrials the sensation of submerged serenity, regardless of their level of experience. In the three-hour Discover Scuba class, students will learn the basics of scuba diving. They'll then pull up to the pool for a dive supervised by half-dolphin, half-human instructors, all of whom are certified by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. Though the aqueous experts at Aquatic Adventures provide students with all the scuba gear they'll need for a dive, students are responsible for bringing a bathing suit and towel. Depending on the skills covered by the instructor, this class may be credited toward a future diver certification.

Over the course of a beginner diver certification course, students gain knowledge and maritime confidence through classroom sessions, skill-development seminars, and four open-water dives. Upon completion of the course, all submarinal graduates receive PADI open water certification, which allows for accessible, autonomous exploration of the world's watery reaches.

Whichever option is chosen, most of the bulkier gear is provided by the dive center. However, each student is expected to have his or her own mask, snorkel, fins, gloves, surface signal, cutting tool, and timing device. For the beginner lacking all of these, the third option comes with a complete equipment package (a $325 value) from Aquatic Adventures; Groupon buyers redeeming the equipment-less package must have their personal flippers approved by the saftey-conscious professionals running the course. Students must also provide their own transportation to and from dive sites, dive-site admission fees, tank fills, and any overnight accommodations necessary when visiting the training dive sites necessary for certification.

Aquatic Adventures of Michigan

Aquatic Adventures of Michigan is the joint venture of independent dive instructors Kim D. Parker and Tom Rhoad, who, after years of working with other dive shops, yearned for a place where they could stretch their fins, teach scuba their own way, and bellow sea shanties as loudly as they liked. Today, their PADI Five Star IDC facility is fast approaching its 10-year anniversary, and has grown beyond basic PADI training programs to incorporate everything from underwater digital photography to lessons in deep diving, wreck diving, and night diving. The shop's instructors are fully certified in first aid and emergency oxygen use, and provide factory-authorized service to big-name companies such as Poseidon, Genesis Scuba, and Dive Rite.

On top of offering certified instruction in everything from open-water diving to sea-serpent domestication, the crew supplies fellow divers with quality scuba, snorkeling, and swimming equipment. They also plan exotic expeditions to the Caribbean and tropical Pacific for warm-water dives, and divers looking to stick closer to home can inquire about day trips or weekend getaways to locales such as the Great Lakes or Whitefish Point.

Great afternoon activity. They supply every thing you need. Staff is amazing. The have a cool store with all you need to dive or snorkel. Quite a bit of paperwork but they email you and you can do it at home. Highly recommend. Great way to get a feel for the sport without the expense. Training is enough for any cruise diving or Florida diving excursions.

If you are even curious about scuba diving, I would contact Aquatic Adventures of Michigan and take a Discover Scuba class. I took that class just to make sure that I would like scuba. Now I am hooked. I took the Open Water Certification class and had so much fun that I am completing my Advanced Open Water Certification class. The staff is Fabulous :) I would HIGHLY recommend Aquatic Adventures of Michigan!
