Sharks once roamed the land getting into fistfights with local mariners, until their embarrassing losing record shamed them back into the ocean. Now, you'll have to travel to their home turf. Instructor and former U.S. Army deep-sea diver Justin Bradshaw ups the fitness ante by adding a new element to the traditional body-blasting boot-camp regimen: water. A typical session involves such easy-on-the-joints, hard-on-the-muscles exercises as pool sprints, weighted water treading, poolside exercises, swimming with fins, and brick diving. Justin will put you through the paces that helped him train to weld underwater, build things underwater, defuse underwater mines underwater, and more; expect to burn anywhere from 500 to 1,200 calories a session.
Aquatic Boot Camp is designed to push you to your physical maximum, but Justin also understands that everyone's maximum is different. You won't need to be a gill-augmented Navy SEAL to win the coveted Deep Sea Diver Award for your class; all you'll need is motivation, dedication, an iron will, goggles or a mask, swimming attire, a workout mat (optional), and a pair of swim fins (required, but fins can be borrowed subject to size availability).
