- Full-body workout
- All ages and fitness levels
- Fun, flirty fitness class
- Welcoming atmosphere
In 2004, an independent study proved contemporary pole-based exercises more effective than 1920s pole sitting, more energizing than pole-vaulting, and more sensual than polenta. Unleash your inner exhibitionist with today's Groupon: for $39, you get four weeks of Pole Basics pole-dancing classes (a $111.87 value) at the Brampton location of Aradia Fitness on Mill Street North.
Aradia Fitness provides a welcoming, supportive environment for women of every age and fitness level to explore their sexy side while simultaneously subjecting all sides to a total-body cardio workout. Pole Basics classes teach basic sensual moves, spins and pole work over the course of four weeks, allowing students to build on what they've learned from week to week. Classes meet Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. or Sundays at 1:00 p.m. and combine elements of ballet, yoga, and striptease (though you won't be shedding any leotards or turtlenecks in class) to strengthen your core, tone muscles, increase flexibility, and keep you limber. As the seductress embedded deep within makes her way to the surface, you'll engage rarely used muscles, sometimes resulting in day-after pangs of soreness, sudden Facebook friending of said muscles, and a confident new saunter.
Although initially met with doubt from friends and family, owners Christine Boyer and Tracy Gray danced on to create Aradia Fitness, a pole-dancing fitness institution that empowers and strengthens women on the inside and outside. All you need is gym- or yoga-like attire and bare feet to make your first firm step toward becoming a music-video vixen or reverse-firefighter. Students must call ahead for pre-registration.
