Today’s side deal supposes you’re wondering why it’s gathered you all here today, but someone reading this…is a murderer. For $265, you get a two-night, all-inclusive stay for one person at Architect's Inn during a murder-mystery weekend (up to a $680 value). Architect's Inn is located in Newport, Rhode Island. Couples wishing to enjoy the weekend together will need to purchase two Groupons, and since a minimum of six guests is required for the murder-mystery festivities, it's also suggested that Groupon buyers round up friends who seem most likely to commit foul play.
Originally built in 1873 as the stately home of renowned Newport architect George Champlin Mason, Architect's Inn now functions as a cozy bed and breakfast, with the mansion's Victorian features restored and preserved for a particularly evocative experience. On select weekends, however, Architect's Inn becomes the scene of a faux-crime, as Newport Murder Mystery takes over the house for a special whodunit event. After choosing from several murder-mystery storylines, ranging from Civil War–era slayings to crime capers gone wrong, the saga will begin playing out right before your eyes once you check in. As you piece together the clues—all while playing the character you've been assigned—you'll also have access to delicious dining, courtesy of local food providers, with dessert on Friday evening, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, and dinner on Saturday night.
During breaks in the mock murder and mayhem, guests are free to explore the quaint sights of Newport, or enjoy the amenities offered by their room in the inn, including private baths, Gilchrist & Soames bath products, air conditioning, WiFi, fireplaces, high-thread-count linens, downy feather pillows, and more. Pair a Watson to your Cagney or a Lacey to your Sherlock and delve into a weekend of mysterious murders, spine-tingling twists, and delicious red herring at Architect's Inn.
This murder-mystery weekend is subject to availability.
TripAdvisors give the Architect's Inn a 4.5 owl-eye average:
- Starting with my room which had a warm and cozy fire blazing away when I arrived and a bed so comfortable I didn't want to get up. But......knowing what was ahead, couldn't wait to begin the day, play acting as, "Beverly Harrison", Benefactor & Board member of the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Arts. For 3 days I got to be a rich, successful entrepreneur. I didn't want to return home to reality. – laurali39
- The "Murder Mystery" experience was absolutely BEYOND description and quite honestly the most fun I think I ever have had! …As far as the Inn goes...it is the most gorgeous of B&B's I have EVER stayed in...and there have been many! – RNJD123
