Architectural Institute of British Columbia

Iconic buildings rise up on either side of tour groups as they trail guides who regale them with stories and historical insights. Traversing a total of 9 Victoria and Vancouver neighbourhoods, the Architectural Institute of British Columbia’s walking tours illuminate pivotal and noteworthy structures throughout the city. In Victoria, explorers can ramble through Chinatown—the oldest Chinatown in the nation—or feel the waterfront breeze while taking in the splendor of the Parliament buildings. Alternatively, Vancouver walkers can embed themselves in the city’s first neighbourhood, Strathcona, or investigate industrial expansion by roaming Yaletown.

The AIBC, established in 1920, is a self-governing body dedicated to excellence in the profession of architecture for the benefit of the public, its membership and the environment.

Customer Reviews

I really enjoyed learning more about the architecture in downtown Victoria. I would definitely take another tour next summer.

I was born in Victoria and except for a few years here and there, have lived here my whole life. I love older buildings so invited a friend as she had just moved back here after 30 years away. This was an extremely interesting tour!! Our guide was very enthusiastic about the buildings and really knew his material. I could not believe how much we learned in a short time frame. I really liked that at the end he went over a summary of the names of the buildings and the styles. Highly recommend this tour for everyone. I definitely want to take some of the other tours of Victoria. Absolutely loved it !! The tour guide was factual, and entertaining. ++++++
