Up-tempo music swells in Arepas Grill's dining room while baked corn cakes are stuffed with slow-cooked meats, sweet plantains, and garlic-sautéed mushrooms in the kitchen. The arepa is the signature dish here, though between the ingredient options and prep methods, diners have their choice of more than 20 variations on the Venezuelan specialty. Arepas start out as ground corn that's either baked, fried, or grilled into a gluten-free flatbread; the chefs stuff them with any number of meats and veggies, from baby shark to meatless pockets of avocado, sweet fried plantain, and white cheese. The menu offers plenty more Venezuelan favorites, plus mango and sugarcane juices and torta tres leches for dessert.
