Running was popular in Europe long before it caught on in America, which is why most races and fun runs are measured in kilometers and why most of the Pilgrims were eaten by bears. Race to the top of the food chain with this Groupon.

On Saturday, May 17, 2014, participants gather for the 5K Armageddon Ambush mud run, which is held in several cities throughout the United States and named one of the 12 Best Fun and Dirty Races Across the Country by Redbook Magazine. Runners scramble over more than 15 obstacles—such as 12-foot-high walls—and battle elements—such as wind and fire—as they test their endurance and strength. Intermittently, race organizers and spectators will hurl ecofriendly colored powder at runners in fun and unexpected color ambushes. Throughout the day, participants gather for a party, which pulsates with beats from DJs and live bands and features beer and food from local vendors.
Participants must be 18 or older and are grouped in five divisions according to age. Each participant that completes the race receives a medal.
In an effort to banish the long waiting lines and spread-out obstacles of other mud runs, the organizers of Armageddon Ambush, The Extreme Mud Run, have designed a fun and unique competition that is extreme and unpredictable with more than 15 professionally constructed obstacles built by licensed contractors, including climbing walls and tire pits. To keep things unpredictably colorful, they also set up powdered color ambushes throughout the course. An after-party with beer, food, and live music offers participants an opportunity to dance off the mixture of mud and paint, a much more fun alternative to showering and a much safer one than rolling around on a cop's freshly washed squad car. (However, washing off is also available.)
