Art Cube Studios offers artists from kindergarten-age through adult the opportunity to fine-tune their creative forces during a variety of classes, all held at the historic Flanders House. The Watercolor series, for high-school students and adults, trains fledgling brush wielders how to compose a painting from start to finish. Combining comprehensive introductions to drawing, painting, and technique, painters will complete at least two paintings under the eye of an attentive instructor. Two-hour Visual Journaling sessions, for ages 9–14, take a mixed-media approach to creative expression by combining text, found images, and drawing. Creatives will construct a journal, then conceive their own work in collaboration with images from magazines, photographs, and imaginary Rothko & You catalogs. Elementary-aged students can come together in a collaborative project to balance teamwork and individuality during the two-hour Collaborative Painting course. Kids begin by brainstorming a theme for a collaborative painting project, after which each student gets a canvas, and all are placed together and outlined to create a large image. Materials for all classes are included in the cost, but all students are welcome to purchase and bring their own if they wish to do so.
Located in the historic Flanders House, Art Cube Studios provides a creative retreat for children and adults alike. Large windows in each room and a small river in the backyard create a bright and inspirational environment for creating paintings of paintings. Parents of blossoming masters are welcome to relax in the lounge while enjoying complimentary coffee, tea, refreshments, and WiFi, or are welcome to drop their whippersnappers off for the duration of the session. Art Cube Studios
Nestled in the historic Flanders House, Art Cube Studios contributes to the creative community in three distinct ways. First and foremost are their all-ages art classes, available in both one-off workshops and multiweek curriculums. The classes give participants the opportunity to work with media such as ceramics, acrylic paint, watercolors, the written word, and invisible ink for the extra shy. The studio’s second contribution is as a venue where students and resident artists can sell their work during a show. Finally, anyone in the community is welcome to rent out studio space by the hour, day, week, month, or pound.
