Without healthy exposure to art at an early age, many would-be virtuosos live in constant fear of blank canvases under their bed and paint-clogged brushes lurking in their closet. Assuage a colour wheel of fears with today's Groupon: for $99, you get a 20-visit punch pass for youth drop-in art classes at Art Land Inc. (a $360 value).
Art Land ushers students into the world of art at a young age, holding classes and course curricula for artists ages 2–12. Youthful practitioners drop in to free-form single-medium courses with a 20-visit punch pass to dig, build, and drywall the foundation for essential right-brain exercise, motor skills, and creative experimentation. Young ones explore art basics in the studio space over one-hour sessions, moving around among five stations emphasizing media such as clay, paint, charcoal, and mashed potato. After exploring the tools, principles, and basics of each art form, students are encouraged to make a mess, to self-guide projects, and to responsibly raise their own muses.
Artisans may also drop in to Art Land's regular sessions geared toward parent-partnered, preschool, and school-age curricula. Studio staff guide miniature sculptors through the basics of working synthetic and natural clay, and students discover painting through exploration of shape, focal points, the number of dogs, and perspective. Although provided materials vary by current course offerings, Art Land does not charge for course materials.
