Q:

Hello. I am interested in this treatment as an overall rejuvenated look to my skin. I do not have age spots or broken capillaries on my face. I am 49 and my skin looks dull and I look tired. Is ILP suitable for an overall treatment? Also, when you say one area, do you not treat the entire face? Is it just the forhead, or cheeks, etc?

A:

Hello, Thank your for enquiring. IPL treatments are great for overall skin rejuvenation. The area would include the whole face that includes the forehead, cheek, chin etc). Generally we recommend 3-6 treatments to achieve good results.

Q:

Hi, I was wondering if this helps with broken capillaries, redness, flushing and light discoloration? Also, I'm 27 but I was told by an esthetician that I was considered too "young" for IPL. Can you please answer these questions for me?

Ivana  asked on  Feb 1, 2013

A:

Hi Ivana, Thank you for enquiring. IPL treatments are very good treatments for broken capillaries and redness or flushing on the face. We treat a lot of patients much younger than you and 27 is not too young. It is a good idea to treat the redness early to prevent it from getting worst with age. Generally you would require 3-6 treatments to get achieve good results.

Q:

Tx for the quick response, just one more question. I am due for some laser skin tightening and was wondering how long after photo facials treatment I would need to wait to get it done? It is Affirm that I am getting. Also, how many weeks in between treatments if I decide to get a package of three? Is it every 4 or 6 weeks? Thanks again

Danielle C.  asked on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

Hi Danielle, We do not offer the Affirm laser however knowing a little about the technology we would recommend that you wait a week between the Affirm laser treatment before having the photofacial treatment. Treatments are usually 4 weeks apart for the photofacial treatments.

Q:

Do you need to take Valtrex before the proceedures if you have a history of cold sores. I rarely get one but know that some laser treatments can trigger an outbreak and cause scarring? Is this one of those, or is it ok to do without any medication? Thanks

Danielle C.  asked on  Jan 29, 2013

A:

Thank you Danielle for your interest. If you have a history of cold sores and you would like to have the photofacial treatment on the face and near your lips, valtrex would be recommended. If you need assistance to get a prescription for Valtrex, Dr. Ellis would be happy to assist.
