What You'll Get
Artistic expression can take the form of a vibrant painting, a stunning sculpture, or front-yard hedges trimmed into the shape of longing. Let creativity blossom with today's Groupon: for $20, you get two Art Combo classes or two Comics and Animation classes at Art One Academy in Richmond Hill (up to a $70 value).
With a clan of impassioned instructors, Art One Academy helps budding talents discover the craft and history of artistic expression. Art Combo classes whisk young artists ages 4 and older through a hands-on exploration of watercolours, acrylic painting, pencil drawing, and clay sculpture. As students acquire the fundamentals—which provide a solid foundation for secondary-school art education—they are also served nourishing helpings of art history, which include studying the work of famous painters, learning about the artistic heritages of other cultures, and historical perspectives on the beret. While the combo class works to develop general comprehension of the visual arts, Art One Academy's Comics and Animation class concentrates on a step-by-step demystification of the high-tech inventiveness that goes into cartoons, comic books, video games, and movies. Within Art One's bright and spacious facility, animation classes practice cartooning in a variety of styles and genres. Under the tutelage of supportive teachers, pencil-wielding pupils ages 7 and older ultimately discover how basic drawing skills can give rise to fully-realized characters and scenarios, from a stick-figure man to a stick-figure man's hijinks at the dry cleaners.
