About Artemis Defense Institute
The Simulator Lab
Artemis Defense Institute encompasses classrooms and three separate VirTra simulators in our labs: one with a single screen, one with three screens, and one with five screens that completely immerse trainees in active, real-life scenarios. This programs prepares students with firearm safety, proper presentation from the holster, understanding the underlying principles that differentiate defensive shooting from recreational shooting, terminology, shooting fundamentals, functional & efficient movement and weapons manipulations.
The Training Firearms
Though no ammunition is used, simulators work in tandem with real Glock 22 and AR-15 firearms that have been converted for use with lasers and CO2 tanks to simulate recoil. Simulators also use an optional device called The Threat Fire, which gives shorts jolts of electricity to indicate being hit by incoming rounds.
Meet the Team
Steven and Sandy Lieberman wanted to go into business together. That much they knew, but the husband-and-wife team didn't exactly have a specific business in mind. Maybe a bakery, maybe a laundromat—in the end, they stuck to what they knew: Steven's passion for firearms and self-defense. That was 2012. Since then, Artemis Defense Institute has drawn in everyone from the general public, to the Orange County Sheriffs department, to members of the Special Forces.
