What You'll Get
The best part of kayaking is the exhilaration of exploration, up until you realize the difficulty of paddling through pudding in your bathtub and must face yourself in the mirror. Take to real rivers with this Groupon: for $25, you get a four-hour kayaking adventure from Artist Boat in Galveston (a $50 value). The tour includes all equipment, but this deal does not include the $2.50 online-registration fee. The paddling season began Saturday, March 10, and a full schedule of spring and summer kayaking tours are available; registration is available here.
A team of biologists and artists guides Artist Boat's fleet of kayaks through the scenic waterscapes of Galveston Bay. Guides narrate excursions with facts about the area's ecosystem as part of their mission to promote and preserve this marine environment through the disciplines of science and art. Watery paths range from an easy to intermediate level of difficulty, allowing adventurists to keep up rhythmic paddling while listening to guides elucidate the significance of the Bay to local residents and wildlife. The shop equips riders with all the gear necessary, requiring tour-goers only to bring their biceps, sunblock, and Siren repellent.
