Acoustic Guitar Magazine raved, "Özgen's playing is stunningly versatile and expressive throughout." Guitarist-composer Mesut Özgen was the first guitarist to be awarded the highest honorary prize of the Yale School of Music, and he currently shares his immense talents with young players as a member of the guitar faculty at Florida International University, and has taught at UC Santa Cruz. For this program at Arts at St. Johns, Özgen will play music mainly from his homeland, Turkey, as well as Appalachia and Latin America, along with guest performers Celso Cano on guitar and Phil Bracken-Tripp on flute.
