This was a new experience for us, at first we were like oh my goodness, how many times do we need to learn to tie this knot, but realized the importance of it (if your first time- don't get discouraged) and now appreciate the knowledge. WE LOVED IT!! and it will definitely be doing this again!

What You'll Get

At the dawn of the world, everyone rock-climb-commuted to work. It was only after the invention of falling, however, that rock climbing became thrilling, sexy, and glamorous. Today's Groupon invites you to live the life of a rock star: for $7, you get a day pass plus harness and shoes (a $15 value) at Ascension Climbing in Peachtree City, about 50 minutes from Atlanta. Groupon customers will also enjoy a 50% discount on hiring someone to belay them (normally $25 per hour) or admission to a basic belay class (normally $10) on the same day they visit the climbing facility.

Once they’ve hopped into a harness ($2 value) and strapped on a pair of suction shoes ($3 value), wall walkers of all ages, skill levels, and anti-gravitational awareness can spend a full day ($10 value) conquering Ascension Climbing’s vertical indoor mountain range. Formerly a training studio for Peter Parker, Ascension features walls inset with multicolored, grab-able globs that usher climbers ever upward as they strive to debunk that hoary myth involving skies and limits. Veteran climbers say rock climbing is sort of like training and running a marathon, but you get the adrenaline rush in shorter, more intensely concentrated spurts. Indoor climbing is a great way for someone to get started, as well as a perfect after-work and climb-during-inclement-weather alternative for experienced climbers who want continuous practice.

The Robertson family operates Ascension Climbing—Mark and Melissa manage money, and the kids help teach, coach, belay, and set routes—making the gym a family-oriented facility from the ground up. A big-screen TV and free WiFi keep non-climbers entertained while the walls around them teem with suspended life. Make your dream of living in a floorless world come true with today’s Groupon to Ascension Climbing.

Participants must call for gym belay reservations or for large groups. All climbers must sign a waiver; participants under 18 must have parent's signature.

Belayers must be 14 years of age or older.

About Ascension Climbing

The Robertson family exemplifies the unifying power of family fitness. While parents Mark and Melissa manage Ascension Climbing's incoming clients, their three kids—Grace, Caleb, and Zeke—provide one-on-one training in the art of scaling mountainsides or the gum-studded underside of a giant's desk. Grace, who formerly coached college climbing teams, transfers her expertise to competitive clients during one-on-one lessons at one of 18 ropes. Zeke oversees the littlest ones at Ascension’s climbing walls and two bouldering caves, and Caleb fills in the schedule with lessons on climbing safety and technique.

As a tightly knit, climbing-savvy family, the Robertsons hope to strengthen the bonds of other clans through Ascension Climbing’s many activities. They invite families to climb and boulder together during events and trips. They also host groups and parties, spreading their love of climbing through chaperoned events and overnight lock-ins.
