Since the invention of the oxygen tank, explorers have been able to venture into unknown frontiers from the craters of the moon to the discotheques of the ocean floor. Put on your dancing fins for today's Groupon: for $40, you get a Discover Scuba Course at ASK Divers (a $100 value). Once Discover Scuba is complete, this Groupon also entitles you to continue training with $100 off the Open Water Diver course ($320/semi-private lesson, $500/private).
At ASK Divers, students slip into a 50-meter indoor Olympic size pool to flap their fins through a two-hour scuba lesson taught by a PADI-certified instructor. Up to four merpersons per lesson will be fitted for gear and briefed on basics before wading into the water to loosen their gills and practice skills. After proving their aquatic adroitness, divers can voyage the deep end of the pool to take in subaqueous sights and play underwater games such as Pin the Tentacle on the Mollusk.
Basic scuba gear is provided for this course; however, along with swimsuits and towels, divers are urged to get their own masks, snorkels, and fins to ensure comfort. Courses are typically held at the YWCA on Brown Street or the Replica Aquatic Center in Fort Bliss, but location may vary depending on scheduling availability.
