About Dao House

Unlike most of Colorado's mountain towns, which began as mining communities, Estes Park has been a resort destination ever since a rancher transformed a settler’s homestead into a dude ranch in the 19th century. The town, which is outside of what was later designated as Rocky Mountain National Park, has always had easy access to acres of ponderosa pines, rivers, and lakes. Today, Aspen Lodge Resort and Spa continues Estes Park's tradition, appealing to outdoor enthusiasts with its 80 acres of mountain forest and cozy cabins.

Accommodations at Aspen Lodge include rooms in the main lodge and 13 private cabins, many of which reflect the mountain scenery with log and stone façades. Lodge rooms come with either a balcony or porch furnished with a wooden bench for taking in views of nearby Longs Peak, which towers over surrounding mountains at 14,259 feet. Alternatively, one-, two-, and three-room cabins have more space, including a separate sitting area with a couch and chairs.

You can also take in the vistas while relaxing by the outdoor pool, open seasonally from June to September, or the year-round hot tub. At the Aspen Lodge Activity Center, break a sweat in the sauna, atop the two tennis courts, or on the sand court, replete with a volleyball net and pit for burying feelings. Action also takes place off of the resort grounds at the hiking and ski trails in the adjacent Rocky Mountain National Park.

Head to the onsite Aspen Grill & Ten Bears Saloon for bistro-style entrees such as baked brie puff pastries and pan-seared scallops. The restaurant occasionally hosts live musicians and has a wide selection of wine, beer, and spirits.
