What You'll Get
Yoga awakens the body and spirit, allowing yogis to forecast oncoming weather, traffic patterns, and losing lottery numbers, such as "four" and "peanut." Tune and tone your body with today's Groupon: for $35, you get 10 drop-in classes at Astanga Yoga Ottawa (up to a $135 value).
Astanga Yoga Ottawa propels students of all skill levels toward bending and stretching mastery with professionally taught Astanga yoga classes. Eager students harmonize body and breath in a practice that adheres to the traditional style, which emphasizes a patient, quiet attentiveness in a minimal-distractions setting. The result is a dynamic variety of Astanga yoga that helps students stand taller, bend over backwards, and open pickle jars taped between the shoulder blades. Astanga Yoga Ottawa offers three levels of Astanga classes, with drop-in classes on most days of the week, many of which are suitable for all skill levels. Astanga 1, the most beginner-friendly, puts the spotlight on Astanga fundamentals with a medley of standing, seated, and finishing postures. Meditation and mindfulness classes are also held twice a week for those who prefer to levitate in group settings.

About Astanga Yoga Ottawa
The founder of the Ashtanga form, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, proclaimed once that "yoga is 99% practice, and 1% theory." For Janice DeFilippi, a more appropriate ratio would be 99 per cent practice, and 1 per cent airfare, as she took several yoga retreats to Mysore, India, to study under the late Pattabhi Jois directly. When she's not furthering her knowledge of the Ashtanga philosophy or practicing overseas, she's working alongside her team of certified instructors to expand this powerful practice throughout Ottawa. They teach the arts of proper alignment and breath-linked movement during Ashtanga and Mysore classes, doling out personal attention and hands-on corrections.
