What You'll Get
Breathing underwater, like eating fireworks, constructing a monument, and getting married, should only be attempted if you’re confident you can do it. Foster self-assurance and condition lungs with today’s Groupon to At the Water’s Edge in Westfield. Choose between the following options:
- For $10, you get a Discover Scuba class with rental equipment included (a $25 value).
- For $115, you get a snorkeling package (a $230 value). The package includes:
- Two-hour snorkeling lesson
- Custom-fit fins
- A mask
- A snorkel<p>
At the Water’s Edge’s dive masters shepherd flocks of neophyte Nemos through scuba and snorkeling classes, teaching would-be Cousteaus the ropes regarding safety techniques, equipment usage, and the handling of actual ropes. The snorkeling package equips aquatic enthusiasts with professional-grade snorkeling gear, including a mask, a dry snorkel, and custom-fit fins, before leading them on a safe, two-hour lesson in the fine art of breathing through a straw. The 2.5-hour Discover Scuba class begins with 30 minutes of on-land instruction, during which students will get their metaphoric feet wet trying out the tanks and other equipment before plunging into the on-site pool for more than two hours of educational submersion.
At the Water’s Edge’s classes are open to participants 14 and older and are kept at a ratio of four students to one instructor, ensuring each swimmer gets the time and attention he or she needs to master the mechanics of submarine maneuvering. Designed with beginners in mind, both classes accommodate Groupon holders looking to stretch their gills, prep for hydrovacations, or win back their true love from the arms of an amorous octopus. Classes take place the second Friday of every month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.—see the schedule for more details.
