More than 200 pets die each day in Atlanta-area shelters, and even more lives are lost in the streets due to homelessness or neglect. Though animal-control agencies strive to place each pet in a loving home, the sheer volume of needy animals forces these organizations to put some animals to sleep. Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends, Inc. (AARF) rescues animals in need, many from animal-control centers, and places the affection-needing pets in a loving foster home until a fully forever home can be found.
AARF and its network of 25 foster homes and 25 regular volunteers help care for neglected pets, serving 40 to 50 dogs and cats at any given time. While locating available foster homes, AARF lovingly cares for each animal in its community pet center, giving each pet the attention it requires, medical care, nutritional food, and well-maintained sleeping kennels. Although it strives to take in as many animals as possible, the community pet center is limited by the number of kennels currently held at the location.
Join G-Team and donate $10 to help supply the AARF community pet center with life-saving kennels. Each kennel purchased saves potentially hundreds of canine lives, as future pets in need of shelter can be provided a safe place to stay. AARF's goal of $800 enables the organization to purchase four new kennels, with each additional $200 funding another kennel. Camp Kitty, a local feline boarding facility, will match donations up to $800. Until June 30, 2011, G-Team members can bring their Groupon to Camp Kitty when boarding one cat for five days and receive two free days of boarding.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
Donations will be matched up to $800.
