Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
My program is perfect for beginners. Utilizing progressive overload, each week offers variety and increasingly gets more challenging to start you on the right path.
Do you run your gym according to a particular exercise philosophy?
I don't use gimmicks. I use proven exercise methodology that gets you results. It is judgment free, [and] all my students encourage and help each other. The entire studio is a small community, and [we] genuinely care about each other.
When and how did you first develop a passion for fitness?
I have always enjoyed fitness [for] my whole life. I have always been an athlete at some level (rugby, football, and now martial arts). For 15 years I was working in the behaviour modification field. Two years ago I decided to combine the two.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
When people don't lose a lot of weight right away, I always ask them "How long did it take you to gain this unwanted weight?" It is not unrealistic to take the same amount of time. Yes, losing can be done quickly, but it must be done safely and effectively. It takes lifestyle change, not a few classes, to facilitate this change.
