What You'll Get

For $12, today's side deal gets you two tickets to the Fall Pops Concert performed by the Austin Civic Orchestra at Bethany Lutheran Church (a $24 value). The concert takes place September 18 at 7:30 p.m.

Tote along your favorite song scientist or chord chemist and watch as the professional orchestral professors fuse favorite rhythms and harmonies during the concert. The setlist includes Leonard Bernstein's symphonic suite from On the Waterfront, John Williams's "Star Wars Suite," Bizet's "March of the Torreadors" from Carmen, music from the James Bond films, and a tribute to Henry Mancini.

The talented, volunteer-based Austin Civic Orchestra has perked ears since its inception 34 years ago. The orchestra begins its season fresh off a nomination for best classical-music performance from the Austin Chronicle's Critics Table in 2009, and was also recognized as a semifinalist for the 2010 American Prize, which is given to the top civic orchestras in the country.
