Susan is a real “Austin girl” ,and she knows her Pilates! Susan has over 10 years experience teaching Pilates and it shows in the way that she is careful with alignment during exercises, can assess clients needs, progresses them at their speed, and has developed her own series of pointers. Susan is open, warm, encouraging and yet professional. I am a medical professional who has practiced with Pilates teachers for a few years and I would say her abilities are at the top of my list.

Got 4 sessions through Groupon. Changed my life. Had frequent bad right hip pain and referred lower back pain from dysplasia. Couldn't take a walk around the block without stopping for a ‘pain’ break. First time for me trying Pilates - recommended by PT several years ago but got shots when the pain got too bad instead. After several rounds of shots for right hip, my good left hip started hurting even worse than my right hip ever had. I felt like i was falling apart. Was at the point where I had to get hip replacement or just deal with the pain. I think Susan and i were both nervous about what would happen that first day. I was afraid i would hurt my hips even more but it has been amazing. I haven't had any pain in my hips during the sessions and the pain is completely gone for long stretches of time. Only pain I get now is when I let my lower back take over and do the work instead of using my core. You learn quickly though. Would definitely recommend Pilates and would definitely recommend Susan at Austin Girl Pilates. Susan knows her stuff. The reformer isn't like going to the gym and hopping on a machine. There are important things you need an instructor to show you and give you guidance on for the proper technique. As a beginner, breathing, foot and lower back placement are key i think. For me, it hasn't been as easy as it sounds but I love learning and improving. I really feel strongly that you need an expert to help you get it right. I’ve been going a little over 2 months, twice a week. I’m amazed with how much better i feel and how quickly I see a difference in posture, muscle tone and strength. I used to dread going up even mild inclines but after the first week i could walk up Susan’s driveway without limping. Real results! I highly recommend Austingirlpilates.com for anyone who has mobility problems where your doctor or PT has told you to get in shape or get an operation. I still get occassional but much milder hip pain but i always feel better as soon as i start my session and I'm always pain free when I leave. I can’t thank Susan enough. Five stars and the Groupon coupon is a really great deal!
