Should probably have more than one person there at a time. The door was locked when I got there because my facialist was in the back room. I thought they might be closed. Nice facial experience though.

What You'll Get

Jump to: Reviews | Face/Off: The Animated Adventures

When people think of you, the first thing that comes to mind is most likely your face, closely followed by your puggle, then by a really weird commercial they saw on Monday-night football. Make your mug memorably shiny-fresh and give your designer lapdog a run for its kibble with today's skin-restoring deal. For $55, you get a rejuvenating medical-grade skin peel at Avanti Skin Center of Chicago, a $110 value. Relax in the welcoming Old Town spa's lobby amidst rich browns, earthy plums, and calm lighting, and get your new face on.

Like cleanly peeling the decal from a new pair of sunglasses or taking the plastic cling pumpkins off your window, facial peels are a deeply satisfying and easy way to update your appearance. Your experienced and knowledgeable aesthetician will analyze your skin type, sensitivity, and problem areas to prescribe the peel that will make your skin glow, taking care not to discolor any and all Calvin & Hobbes tattoos. Chemical peels can treat or diminish the appearance of blemishes, wrinkles, uneven skin pigmentation, dry patches, and scars. Though the idea of peeling chemicals may sound harsh, the friendly aestheticians at Avanti will explain the procedure in detail and make sure that sensitive skin gets a gentle treatment.

After the dull mask of dead skin cells is peeled from your mug, your new skin cells will flourish in their increased oxygen intake. After sloughing dead skin, your head will emerge like a curious rabbit from a skin-burrow, your topside will feel a bit lighter, and your radiant visage will bring long-lost sailors home. Perk up your look before the holidays, when family reunions and ex-boyfriend sightings make a luminous and jealousy-inducing appearance a must.

Citysearchers named Avanti Best Chicago Medi-Spa in 2007, and Chicago Beauty raves about the clean and relaxing facility:

  • Soft brown walls meet high ceilings accented with a distinctive bamboo reed backdrop. It's exactly the kind of ambiance one wants in a MedSpa; serene yet serious and immaculately maintained. – Chicago Beauty

Citysearchers give Avanti 4.5 stars and Yelpers give it 3.5:

  • I also loved their chemical peels! I have to say it made my skin glow and my skin has never been so smooth. I like the idea that there is a different chemical peel for each individual skin type and concern, which makes me feel comfortable that not everyone receives the same exact general one. – ACalhoun, Citysearch
  • beyond the success of the actual treatment, the staff is extremely accommodating and friendly and provides recommendations without using any kind of pushy sales techniques. – mnz71, Citysearch

Face/Off: The Animated Adventures

Many facial fans got their first taste of face-customization from John Woo’s 1997 blockbuster hit Face/Off, but this fall, the face-swapping adventure continues when Agent Sean Archer and Castor Troy are re-imagined as rival high schoolers in Face/Off: The Animated Adventures. Here are some episode synopses from the press kit:

Face The Music (Season 01, Ep. 02): When John Woo High holds a battle of the bands, could it mean Agent Sean Archer’s big break? Not if Castor Troy can use his dad’s credit card to hire professional studio musicians! American Idol’s Adam Lambert guest stars.

Saving Face (Season 01, Ep. 08): When an anonymous chat blog starts posting vicious gossip about Castor Troy’s fake designer jackets, Agent Sean Archer has to decide whether to stand up for his rival, knowing he may be the blog’s next target. In this very special episode about cyber-bullying, First Lady Michelle Obama guest stars.

The Face That Launched a Thousand Quips (Season 01, Ep. 19): Agent Sean Archer must cope with Castor Troy’s sudden popularity after winning John Woo High School’s comedy competition. But when Castor can’t keep his insult comedy on the stage, will it cost him his newfound following? Rated TV-M for 38-minute gun battle, Miranda Cosgrove guest stars.
