Set the meal wheels in motion with escargot Provençal ($8.95) or a crispy bruschetta ($6.75), before careening full-throttle into a faceful of Dungeness crab cakes with salsa and lime cayenne-mayo on organic greens ($16.95), or an eight-ounce New York steak with fresh herb butter ($19.95). Creative noodle amalgamations ($13.95) include artichokes, chicken, sundried tomato, and pesto, or shrimp and mushrooms; there's also jambalaya, veggie cannelloni, and meat lasagna ($13.95 each) for pasta purists whose DIY spirit has plummeted since the completion of their ziti ziggurat. Breakfast is served Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and brunch is available on the weekends until 3:30 p.m. for customers whose midnight horse-thieving shifts leave them too exhausted to make a morning meal.
- I picked the counterpart of Jenkins’ choice with the West Coast Club Sandwich. My version came with smoked salmon, shrimp, and avocado rather than the cheese, bacon, and chicken. I actually liked the West Coast version more than the East Coast version. The smoked salmon and shrimp went very well with the creamy avocado and it was a unique spin on a regular club sandwich. – Ho Yummy
- lasanga was actually quite good. I love the creamy flavour of the sauce because it taste very different. The server explained that the chef is Iranian so he made some of is own blend of sauce. For desert, I guess because I am always a chocolate peanutbutter fan. Their choco peanut butter cake was absolute fantastic!!! As for service, its decent. They took my order, followup to make sure we are okay and promptly service my request. I could not ask for more – mithelmauler, DineHere
Avenue Grill Restaurant
Nestled in a cozy brick building in Kerrisdale, Avenue Grill Restaurant has served a menu’s worth of diverse food since the 1920s. The head chef honed his knack for Mediterranean cooking in Europe—reflected in the eatery's Mediterranean sandwiches, with grilled eggplant and zucchini on focaccia—but also crafts pastas, fresh seafood, and three-egg omelettes. An ample wine selection complements Avenue Grill's sundry dishes, and seasonal specials incorporate only the freshest and most polite ingredients. In the dining room, vases filled with flowers top tables and vibrant paintings of blooming floras and lolling hills adorn the walls.
