Inside everyone is a rabid rock star clawing to be unleashed on the hotel room that is the music industry. Today’s Groupon lets that inner rock star run wild: for $49, you get one hour of recording time plus a mixed and mastered CD from Avowal Music Production (a $145 value). You get to record two tracks during your hour (about half an hour per track), and they will be professionally mixed and mastered. Sadly, drums cannot be accommodated at this location, but the mics have all been optimally calibrated for kazoos. Today's Groupon does not include world tours, provocative photo shoots involving cheetahs, or limousines with champagne-filled hot tubs.
Avowal founder Wes Leyshon doesn’t compromise in his Arthurian quest for the Holy Grail that is sonic perfection. Since establishing Avowal in 2006, Leyshon has used state-of-the-art equipment and an ear that would make a noctuid moth jealous to mix and master music for the likes of Better Than Ezra’s Kevin Griffin and American Idol’s David Cook (winner of season 7) and Katharine McPhee. More recently, his mix of 16 Frames’ “I’ll Be Better When You’re Gone” was used in the season five finale of MTV’s The Hills. After your 60 minutes on the mic ($35–$60) are up, Avowal’s engineers will fiddle with frequencies and dabble in dynamics as they mix together ($75) and master ($35) the best takes—creating a tangible record of your vocal cords’ vibrations that you can then sneak into the bins of your local record store.
Whether you want to lay down the world’s most professional-sounding voicemail greeting or just to record yourself saying the word “banana” over and over again in Auto-Tune, Avowal Music Production has the expertise and the equipment to make your ears salivate.
No musical experience is necessary, although the capacity to make noise is; Memphis mimes need not apply.

- I am a writer for Warner Chapel and also have my own band, 16 Frames, on Verve Universal. I have been working with Wes for some time now. He has mixed everything from country to rock to pop for me. He always pays close attention to what I am looking for in a mix and takes the time to get it. I love his work. He mixed a couple 16 Frames songs as well. And they stand up very well against anything out there. He is a true professional and is great at what he does. – Steve Sulikowski
- Wes's work is superb! His mixes really take the song to the next level and bring life to them! – Meghan Kabir
- Wes Leyshon is an incredibly musical person. He has mixed a fairly wide variety of styles for me and always does fantastic work! And a nice fellow to boot! – busbee
