A picture is worth a thousand words, making photographs and stick-figure sketches the easiest solutions to looming dissertation deadlines. Take advantage of efficient visual-communication strategies with today’s Groupon: for $120, you get a one-hour photo session for up to five people and one CD of edited images from B House Photography (a $400 value). This Groupon is valid for on-location shoots within Bexar and Comal counties. An additional fee may apply for other locations.
B House Photography's Brandi Dalhouse coaxes shy glances and sought-after pearly whites from hiding, capturing a birthday wish coming true or a collective family chortle during her one-hour portrait sessions. A preliminary discussion defines goals and irons out details for the shoot, which can include up to five people and take place either in the intimate, dappled solitude of the client's laundry hamper or in a commodious public space. Deploying some props of her own, the digital duplicator encourages snap-happy parents and graduating seniors to bring their own accouterments such as extra sweaters and forged diplomas to ensure client comfort and to help establish a fun mood.
After the shoot, Dalhouse retouches and crops all of the session's 30–40 digital images, softening scrapes, balancing saturation, and straightening errant horizon lines. The finished hi-resolution files include black-and-white and sepia copies, all of which can be printed at their intended 8"x10" size or blown up to wallpaper a rival baseball team’s dugout. Brandi completes the process and mails the single CD to clients within two–three weeks.
B House Photography
Brandi Dalhouse—the artist for whom B House Photography is named—has learned much about her craft in the 17 combined years she has spent practicing photography, digital photography, photo manipulation, and photo enhancements. Above all, she has come to understand that the best pictures are those that capture us with our guards down, engaging with our surroundings rather than with the camera. This proves especially true for children and their families; it’s hardly a coincidence that these are Brandi’s favorite subjects. Her wide-ranging portfolio will attest, however, that she also has plenty of experience capturing teens, brides, and pregnant mothers.
As one might expect from someone who places more of an emphasis on her clients than on her own camera, Brandi begins each shoot with a discussion of goals and desired outcomes. The informal tone of this discussion carries over into the photo sessions themselves, which take place at locations of her clients’ choosing, whether on a favorite playground or in front of an ex's toilet-paper-draped house. Within 2–3 weeks after the session, clients can receive a fully edited CD with high-resolution images, as well as a print release for sharing their photos with family and friends.
