What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We offer people a monthly subscription to a bike and lock. The bike becomes yours to use at all times, but without the need to maintain it or worry about theft. We run our "pop up bike shop" through an app so we are open 24/7, and we always have a loaner bike for you in case anything goes wrong.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Being able to bike everywhere is one of the greatest things about DC. However, there aren't many good options for access to a bike. Bikeshare is unreliable. Owning a bike is expensive and risky with theft, and buying used bikes can be sketchy. So we created a subscription plan.
What do you love most about your job?
Getting people hooked on biking to work or school. It's the best way to get ready for the day, provides a little bit of exercise, and saves a lot of money over other options.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
When we replaced a customer's stolen bike and they said "are you kidding me, is this real?"
